Hi, I'm Cara Shelton - a Christian wife and mother who runs a small print + graphic design studio in beautiful North Alabama.
I've been spiritual and creative all my life, but things started to get exciting when I was able to combine those two passions through linocut printmaking and graphic design. That's how Seraphim Print Studio was born! ✨
My focus is on the celebration of Christianity as an ancient faith, weeding out modernism and innovation to find the unchanged, unbroken links that lead back to the time of Christ, His Apostles, and the early Church. I want to learn to honor and trust in Jesus the way the people who met Him did - the way the Myrrhbearers did. I want to elevate the Written Word of God, traditional prayers, and ancient languages, that we may feel more profoundly grounded to the origins of our faith. And I want to celebrate the lives of the saints such that through their holy prayers and our knowledge of their triumphs, we may aspire to the same great virtue for the sake of eternal life no matter what madness our worldly lives offer.
I hope those are the subjects reflected in the things that I make.
With those themes, I love exploring typography, color, and composition in ways I guess you could call...assertive. Blackletter. Gold. Dramatic florals. High contrast. Detailed linework. Things that are at once classic and not easily forgettable. I want my work in-your-face enough to make you feel stubbornly, defiantly hopeful, but restrained enough to keep you rooted in tradition.
Speaking of hope, my faith journey has been an interesting one full of intensity and even some unexpected turns. I marvel at what God has done in my life and have so much hope for what is to come. It's been such a blessing to have my sweet little family side-by-side for it all, so full of support and love.
When I'm not creating, I'm a homeschooling mom to two bright, beautiful kids. I'm happily married to my very funny, brilliant best friend Justin. Together, the four of us love laughing, learning, creating, and exploring new places.
I pray that in the click-and-buy e-commerce industry, my tiny corner of the internet retains some humanity. My art and design business is a passion that my whole family has taken on and through great blessings (that's you🫶), it now helps support us as we continue to grow and dream. There's a real family behind the screen here...packing orders, hand-writing thank you notes, running prints, and planning new designs.
I have endless gratitude for the people who have chosen to support this work for the last three years. God has so blessed me by allowing me to witness your devotion to Him - an unceasing love for truth and tradition. I couldn't have handpicked a more wonderful group of people to connect with.
Thank you so much for being here.
Love and prayers,
Cara
